Clogged gutter

Being made from many materials, rain gutters represent a very important piece to your water drainage system. They collect and divert the water away from your house and they can be more or less expensive depending by the material used or the process of installation chosen. A very good option is represented by vinyl rain gutter which is inexpensive and easy to install especially if you have an assistant.

First, you will have to mark the place where your gutters will be installed. Gutters must be installed in a way that the edge of the roof is approximately at the middle of the gutter. The slope of the gutters is also a very important fact that you must take care of when you install them.

You will need to think about the place where water will flow, so the best option is to divert it on a driveway or in a place far from your house foundation. Also, think about the connectors that you will use for the pieces of gutter. Vinyl gutters come in 10 foot sections, so you will need to measure the roof to find out how many pieces you will need.

Now, you can start the process of installation by making the marks. You will need to consider the slope of the gutters which must be at least ½ inch for every 10 feet of gutter. You will also need to mark the place of the downspout. After that, you will need to install the brackets and hangars which must be placed 24 to 30 inches away. Use screws to align the pieces with the marks and snap the sections of the gutter into the brackets. You will need to join the sections together by 2 to 4 inches. You will probably need to use a hacksaw to cut the pieces, so be careful to avoid injuries.

Then, you will have to install the elbows for the downspout and the main downspout piece. Use sealant and screws to fix them and add another elbow to the lower part of the downspout which will divert the water away from your house.
