Even though built in bookcases can save you some space around the house, they don’t have the same value as built-in bookshelves that also offer a specific design to the room. The process of adding bookshelves is an easy one as you can do it yourself. Follow the steps below:
1.
2. Place the large back panel on the floor. Install the side panels with nails followed by the top and bottom pieces. This will be the basic frame. After you lift the unit facing upward, add a divider at 16 inches from each side. Then place the bookcase on the floor again and make a mark every 12 inches starting from the bottom going to the top. These are the marks where the shelves will be installed. Install the shelves securely with nails.
3. Now it’s time to use the 16 inch wide pieces of plywood to seal up the end open spaces. Install some nails every 16 inches from the alcove. To finish the job, add some paint to the bookcase to match the rest of the room.
