The American Academy of Pediatrics stated in a report in 2000 that violence is a more prevalent cause of death among children and adolescents and teenagers than other diseases or disorders.

Males aged between 18 and 34 are considered the top viewers of violent television programs followed by women of the same ages.

One research from 1992 states that until a child reaches 18 years old, he witnesses 200000 acts of violence from which 40000 are murders.

Another study, this one from the University of Pennsylvania, proved that one hour of children television shows have 20 violent acts. Also they say that kids who watch many hours of television will be provided with a negative perspective about how the world is.

There have been more than 1000 studies regarding television violence and its effects since 1950 and most of them prove that kids who watch violent shoes will grow with an aggressive behavior.

Denis McQuail published a theory in 2002 which states that violence that is seen in the media is fixed in the cognitive map of the watchers and if the viewing is done repeatedly than the aggressive thoughts and behavior are maintained.

An average of 31 hours per week of TV viewing is recorded amongst children aged between 2 and 5 years old. This is the main reason why violence is entering in their behavior.
