What to choose? Natural Gas or Electric Dryers

First, you should know that clothes dryers are one of the most important sources that waste energy into a house. Natural gas and electric dryers use almost the same system for drying the clothes, but they have big differences created by their different way to heat the air. This fact is also creating big differences to energy consumption.

So, both systems use the same way to dry the clothes as they are spinning them into a drum which is powered by an electric motor. A fan is blowing heated air to dry the clothes. Most of this kind of systems uses a sensor to detect when the clothes are dried. Also, some systems are using a sensor which measures the temperature of the air blown and the time remained for drying. Both, systems are created to reduce the energy wasted.

If we analyze them apart, we will consider the fact that gas dryers use a burner which is working with natural gas. Some new systems are using an electronic ignition system. You also need to know that electric dyers are using a 240-volt electric circuit which is outputting the double power as a normal household circuit. So, electric dryers will not function to a normal power outlet.

Thinking of prizes and costs, you should know that a gas system will cost somewhere between $50 and $100 and it is a little bit more expensive. Into the same time it will be more efficiently when you think about costs. You will also need to think about your power outlets when you will decide to buy a system, because an electric model will require a new system of power outlets unless you have one to fit with 240 volts.

As I said, gas models are more efficient if you think about costs. You will not need to install appliances that will allow the system to work properly, so you will save your money. On the other hand, they are more expensive than electric systems, but this fact will dissolved in time because of the cost of fuel used.
