Cutting tips for steel gutters

All the rain water that falls on your roof during a rain fall is directed to the ground by the rain gutter. Not having a gutter installed will lead to soaking everything beneath the roof in water. To fit the gutters correctly you must assure that they are cut properly.

The article below presents you an easy way to properly cut steel gutters.

Use a tape measure along the gutter to mark the spots where you need to make a cut using a pencil. Put the base of the carpenter square on the top edge of the gutter and line the square’s blade with the pencil mark.

You must line the pencil line being extended with the blade while moving the carpenter’s square through the gutter. Draw the pencil line around the gutter line’s perimeter.

You may use a pair of aviation snips or a pair of hand snips, depending on how the cuts evolve, to cut along the pencil line. Use your right hand snip for a gutter that is on the left and the opposite for a gutter that is on the right. Finish the gutter cutting this way, to make sure that the snips are not bending.
