Protection when pumping concrete

Concrete pumping is a technique that offers many advantages such as controlling the rate and amount of the concrete that is poured. But besides this, there are also some safety precautions that need to be taken when pumping concrete.

One of the most occurring hazards is when air gets trapped inside the hose and the worker has to perform a hose whipping.

In order to prevent any hazards the hose has a warning sign that tells the workers there is something wrong. If the concrete stops flowing as it should the odds of hose whipping increase.

To resolve this situation, workers are advised to keep a safe distance from the hose until the air is removed to prevent any unwanted situations. When the air is removed there is a chance that residue will be expelled from the end of the hose so the workers must keep distance from this too.

To make sure that there is no air trapped in the hose from the beginning there are some steps that have to be followed. First, always keep the concrete flowing constantly from the delivery system. The safe distance for the workers until the air is removed is around 10 feet.

You can make sure you are protected when pumping concrete if you take all the necessary precautions. Not taking these things seriously will cause you to get injured for sure.
