Describing types of Central heating and air units

The three main categories that include central heating units are: forced air systems, gravity systems and radiant systems. The first one includes a system of ducts that is used to transfer the heat after it is forced in by an electric blower fan. The gravity system is based on the principle that hot air rises and is used usually to heat up rooms placed above the furnace.

The last one, the radiant systems, transfers heat into the air from hot water, steam or electrical elements placed in the walls, floors or ceiling.

As for cooling systems, the most used ones are the refrigerated air and heat pump systems. The first one runs on electric current and works by cooling the air around the unit’s coils. The cold air is transferred through the duct work with a fan and then into the room. For the cooling process the heat pumps extract the heat from the building and pump it outside. This system also has electric fans that push air throughout the building.

Another central heat and air system that gains popularity is the geothermal central heat and air unit. The same as the heat pump, this system pumps air from eight feet above the ground through a system of tubes into the house. The effectiveness of the cost of using this system is that there are no fossil fuels needed to create heat and coolness.
